Libya has Recruited Hundreds of Mercenaries from Niger, Mali, Algeria and Burkina Faso
Some 800 ethnic Tuaregs from Niger, Mali, Algeria and Burkina Faso have been recruited by Muammar Gaddafi’s regime to help control the popular uprising in Libya, according to sources within the security services.
“Approximately 800 native ethnic Tuareg in Mali, Niger, Burkina Faso, Algeria and Libya have been recruited to fight on the side of Gaddafi, “said a source from the security services in Mali.
“And we have the same information”, confirmed a source in the Nigerian intelligence.
In Mali, a discreet recruitment office was installed in a Libyan hotel in Bamako.
Those who agree to be recruited are tempted by easy profits. They are mercenaries.
Said Abdu Salam Ag Assal, chairman of the Regional Assembly of Kidal.
