Julian Assange Appealed his Extradition to Sweden

Wikileaks founder, Julian Assange, appealed against his extradition to Sweden, in a process for sexual violence, the British judiciary announced on Thursday.

Australian lawyers for Assange have submitted a formal application to the High Court of Justice in London, said a spokesman of the court. The date the hearing will take place will be determined later.

A London court has confirmed, on 24 February, the extradition request issued on behalf of Sweden, a country in which two women accused him of sexual assault and rape. The Wikileaks founder has always denied these allegations.

His lawyers, who believe that Assange is the victim of “intrigues” and an “abuse of rights” from the Swedish justice, immediately announced their intention to appeal.

Julian Assange, who surrendered to British police on 7 December, was released on bail nine days later. He is since then living under curfew in the mansion of one of his friends, about 200 miles from London.
